أكد وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت، أن القادة سيتوصلون إلى اتفاق قريب حول غرينلاند.
وأشار خلال «USA HOUSE» على هامش منتدى دافوس الاقتصادي في سويسرا، إلى أن أي رد فعل من الدول الأوروبية سيكون خطوة غير حكيمة، وعليهم الالتزام بالصفقات التجارية التي تم عقدها مع الولايات المتحدة.
ونوه بقوله: «إن ما يهدد به الرئيس ترمب بشأن غرينلاند يختلف كثيرًا عن صفقات التجارة الأخرى لذلك أحثّ جميع الدول على الالتزام بصفقات التجارة التي اتفقنا عليها فهي توفّر قدرًا كبيرًا من اليقين».
ترك الأمور لمجراها
وقال بيسنت: «ما أحثّ الجميع هنا على فعله هو الجلوس وأخذ نفس عميق، وترك الأمور تأخذ مجراها وكما قلت في الثاني من أبريل أسوأ ما يمكن أن تفعله الدول هو التصعيد ضد الولايات المتحدة».
وأضاف: «في ذلك الوقت، قامت دولة واحدة فقط وهي الصين، بالتصعيد وانتهى بنا الأمر إلى تبادل مؤسف للمعاملة بالمثل في زيادات التعريفات الجمركية وانتهى بنا الأمر عند تعريفات بـ145 مقابل 125% ومن خلال العلاقات الجيدة للرئيس ترمب مع نظيره الصيني تمكّنا من تحقيق الاستقرار في تلك العلاقة وتوفير قدر كبير من اليقين».
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent confirmed that leaders will reach an agreement soon regarding Greenland.
He indicated during the “USA HOUSE” on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland that any reaction from European countries would be an unwise step, and they should adhere to the trade deals made with the United States.
He noted by saying: “What President Trump threatens regarding Greenland is very different from other trade deals, so I urge all countries to stick to the trade agreements we have made as they provide a great deal of certainty.”
Letting things take their course
Pisent said: “What I urge everyone here to do is to sit down, take a deep breath, and let things take their course. As I said on April 2, the worst thing countries can do is escalate against the United States.”
He added: “At that time, only one country, China, escalated, and we ended up with an unfortunate tit-for-tat exchange in tariff increases, resulting in tariffs of 145% versus 125%. Through President Trump’s good relations with his Chinese counterpart, we were able to stabilize that relationship and provide a great deal of certainty.”
